Good Health Starts with Gut Health
It is common to feel overwhelmed and frustrated by the amount of conflicting advice that is available. Our experienced Naturopathic Doctors will help you navigate your digestive health symptoms, which may include specialized digestive health tests, to identify the root cause of your concerns and determine what treatments are effective for you.
We treat every patient as an individual and know that the reasons for your discomfort can be as varied as the symptoms themselves. This is why we treat each case as unique and work hard to get to the root of the problem through specialized testing and individualized treatment plans.
Appropriate testing ensures your treatment plan is both safe and effective. Did you know?
- You may feel unwell consuming gluten if you have a gluten intolerance, however, consuming gluten if you have Celiac disease can cause serious damage to your intestines
- Probiotics are helpful to correct an imbalanced microbiome but may make the symptoms of SIBO worse
- A fiber rich diet is integral to gut health but may be fuelling your SIBO
- Restrictive diets may make you feel better in the short term but not all are healthy to follow long term
Proper identification of the cause of your IBS is paramount to IBS treatment.
Helpful Digestive Health Tests
Here are some of the top digestive health tests used within our IBS & SIBO Program. Note – this is not an exhaustive list of available digestive health tests used at Whole Medicine. Your ND will guide you through which, if any, tests are appropriate for you.
SIBO Testing
As the cause of over 80% of cases of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, we know that testing for SIBO can be a critical step in finding the cause of your IBS symptoms. We offer a 3 hour lactulose breath test that can be done in the comfort of your home.

Celiac Testing
For people with Celiac disease, even trace amounts of gluten can cause severe health problems, including digestive distress, skin conditions, neurological abnormalities and decreased nutrient absorption leading to functional nutrient deficiencies and anemia. Many cases of Celiac disease go undiagnosed, so we offer testing for the condition at our clinic.
Food Sensitivity Testing
Undiagnosed food sensitivities can cause a broad range of symptoms from IBS to eczema and mood disorders. Testing can help identify the trigger food(s) that may be aggravating your symptoms. Once these foods are avoided for a period of time, your digestive system can begin to heal.
Comprehensive Digestive Analysis
Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis (CDSA) helps assess the overall functioning of your digestive system by measuring markers of inflammation, digestion and absorption. CDSA also evaluates levels of both beneficial and harmful bacteria, parasites & yeast in the intestines to help to pinpoint the cause of your symptoms.
